BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraq’s Islamic Daawa Party has congratulated the Libyan people on the anticipated downfall of the Libyan Leader, Muammar Gaddafi, describing the unfolding events as “an the end of a dark era in Libya’s history,” according to a statement released by the Party’s Political Bureau on Tuesday.

“The Islamic Daawa Party blesses the Libyan people for the anticipated downfall of the regime of the Tyrant Gaddafi, who suppresed them through oppression and abuse,” the statement, as was received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency, stressed, adding that the end of that system represents “an end to a dark era in Libya’s history.”

“The Islamic Daawa Party confirms Iraq’s support for the Libyan people in their ambitions towards freedom and the end of the dictatorship of Gaddafi,” the statement said, charging the Leader of the Libyan regime “with having supported Iraq’s former Saddam’s Baath regime, in their crimes against the Iraqi people and their ambitions to achieve freedom and pride.”

Al-Daawa Party Political Bureau’s statement expressed hope that “the downfall of the Libyan regime will help to achieve a free and democratic system that restores the rights of the Libyan people and achieve justice for all Libyans.”

Prime Minister congratulates Libyan Revolutionaries

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraq’s Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki has congratulated the Libyan Revolutionaries for the success of their Revolution and their entrance into the Libyan Capital of Tripoli, during his reception of journalists and media men in a Ramadan Iftar (Muslim breakfast) on Monday evening.

“The Libyan people did not embrak on their revolution because of sectarian backgrounds, but because of the fact that their cause was related to a people deprived,” Maliki said.
“The people of Iraq suffered more than the Libyan people, but were able to achieve their freedom,” Maliki said.

Maliki also said that “the Libyan people had expressed their position, at a time when other Arab peoples had been suffering from absence of their freedom, and due to the fact that their States had been treated as a property of a certain party or family.”

“The Iraqi people had been in a worst situation than that of the Libyan and other peoples in the Region, who had suffered a lot..
But today, we have achieved freedom and several successes, thanks to the efforts of the security men, the people, the media men, politicians, intellectuals and others,” Maliki stressed.
