THE British Segway tycoon who died riding one of his company's own scooters left more than £340 million ($537 million) to his family.
The (London) Daily Telegraph reported Jimi Heselden, who died after accidentally plunging from a nine-metre cliff in September last year, left £343,172,206 to his widow Julie and their family.
The businessman made his vast fortune through his company Hesco Bastion which invented the "blast wall" basket, which protected troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.
He bought the US-based Segway firm in December 2009.
Heselden was known as one of Britain's most generous men, donating around £25 million to charities in just two years, including Help For Heroes, which provides aid to injured British soldiers.
He also donated a thousand Segways, worth $5 million, to the Segs4Vets program in the US that provides the mobility devices to American servicemembers disabled by injuries during combat in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Some grateful recipients attended Heselden's funeral last year.
